Il soprano americano Jacquelyn Wagner è stata recentemente protagonista de “La rondine” pucciniana a Torre del Lago. Tra i suoi prossimi impegni operistici: Le nozze di Figaro (Stoccarda), Fidelio e Der Freischutz (Zurigo) e il Don Giovanni (Torino). La cantante simpaticamente ora si offre al “fuoco” della nostra intervista. Cominciamo! Ci racconti le sue preferenze…
1) Social media?
Facebook. Non ho mai trovato il tempo per imparare come funziona Instagram, e quindi mi trovo più a mio agio su Facebook.
2) Piatto?
Insalata di tacos. Era il mio piatto preferito quando ero bambina, e mia mamma me lo faceva sempre per il mio compleanno. Si fa con i Doritos, carne macinata e spezie “taco”, e poi i soliti contorni taco, i pomodori.
3) Compositore?
Richard Strauss. La sua musica mi eleva l’anima!!!
4) Vacanza?
Assolutamente quelle del periodo natalizio È il periodo più bello dell’anno, soprattutto quando tutta la famiglia si riunisce e si possono anche mangiare dei piatti magnifici e si trascorre TANTO tempo per aprire i regali! Guardare la gioisa sui volti dei miei familiari quando aprono i regali non ha prezzo!
5) Pizza?
Amo la pizza sottile e croccante. Adoro quella vegetariana. Più verdure ci sono, meglio è!
6) Gelato?
Alla menta con gocce di cioccolato, Oppure al burro di arachidi? Non riesco a scegliere!
7) Personaggio operistico?
Papageno dal Flauto Magico. È un personaggio così divertente, pieno di senso di umorismo! Mi piace il suo interagire con gli altri personaggi…con le tre dame, o con Tamino  nel secondo atto. Un concentrato autentico di comicità!
8) Colazione?
Omelette con tante verdure e infinite tazze di caffè.
9) Stilista?
Coco Chanel. Non sono una grande intenditrice di moda, ma per me Chanel è stata un autentico punto di riferimento.10) Teatro?
Il Teatro alla Scala. La sua bellezza magica, il fascino della storia che aleggia su quel  palcoscenico È pura perfezione! Milano stessa è una città affascinante.
11) Mezzo di trasporto?
La mia auto! Da questo punto di vista sono una vera americana, cui piace l’indipendenza di avere un’auto. In più mi permette di portare più cose con me quando viaggio. Piccoli dettagli possono fare una differenza quando si è lontani da casa a lungo.
12) Spettacolo televisivo?
The Bing Bang Theory. È una Sitcom divertente ma anche assai  intelligente!
13) Passione?
Assaporare la pace seduta  al sole su una spiaggia, a guardare il mare. Che pace!
14) Animale?
Amo in modo particolare i gatti! …Certo apprezzo anche i cani, ma con i gatti ho un feeling particolare.
15) Colore?
Verde salvia. Un tempo preferivo il verde militare, che è più scuro, ma con il tempo ho iniziato a preferire questa tonalità di verde. Questo colore, per me, significa serenità,  ed è così che mi sento anche  quando guardo e sono immersa nel  il verde.
16) Supereroe?
Assolutamente Wonder Woman! È semplicemente straordinaria.
17) Favola?
Cenerentola. Sono cresciuta con la versione Disney di questa celebre fiaba, che adoro e  rimane la mia preferita.
18) Attrazione al Luna Park?
Le montagne russe velocissime. Mi piace la tensione,  l’eccitazione di rimanere senza fiato a quella velocità!
19) Attrice o attore?
Katharine Hepburn. Era una autenica  star sotto ogni riguardo. Ed era  così naturale quando recitava.
20) Ruolo che ha cantato finora?
Salome o Arabella. Sono due personaggi quanto mai diversi, lontani tra loro. Ho sempre dato una preferenza ad Arabella, ma ora le ho affiancato Salome…Rimango comunque nell’ambito nella mia grande passuone per Strauss! 
21) Letto?
Basta che sia comodo! Non ho ancora trovato il mio letto ideale, ma davvero ne vorrei uno che sia comodo”
22) Film?
C’è posta per te (con Tom Hanks e Meg Ryan). È solo una commedia romantica, ma mi è sempre piaciuta e la riguardo sempre con grande piacere. Non mi stanco mai di apprezzare la  perfetta sintonia fra Meg e Tom. Adoro!
23) Automobile?
Un comodo, ampio e…alto SUV.  Come ho già detto viaggio tantissimo  e ho bisogno di spazio extra.
24) Città europea?
Lucerna, in Svizzera, È una città da sogno, ed è lì che mio marito mi ha chiesto di sposarlo. Per me è luogo magico!
25) Giocattolo quando era una bambina?
Ho sempre amato  i giochi da tavolo, Qualsiasi gioco da tavolo, ancora oggi li adoro.
26) Materia scolastica?
Matematica. Non riuscivo a fare cose estremamente complicate, ma è una materia che mi è sempre piaciuta moltissimo.
27) Accessorio?
Orecchini. Non sono persona che segue con attenzione  cura la moda (magari!) ma ci tengo sempre molto agli orecchini. Mi affido soprattutto alle perle o ai diamanti.
28) Ristorante?
Chi-Chi’s (ristorante messicano). In Michigan questa catena di ristoranti non esiste più, ma era il mio posto preferito perché le loro chip e salsa erano buonissime, e le fajitas strepitose. Mi mancano!
29) Indumento?
Sono un po’ una da jeans, semplici e sempre in stile.
30) Cantante?
Margaret Price una cantante che ho ammirato moltissimo!
31) Marmellata?
Quella d’albicocca.
32) Personaggio dei fumetti o dei cartoni animati?SpongeBob….Ok, non è certo un cartone animato per adulti, ma lo guardavo con la mia sorella minore quando era piccola (ha 12 anni meno di me). È molto divertente e carico di positività!
33) Motto?
“La vita non è stare ad aspettare che la tempesta passi…è imparare a danzare sotto la pioggia”, Vivian Green.
34) Snack?
Sgranocchio con piacere gli anacardi.
35) CD?
Ho una particolare predilizione per una incisione del Don Giovanni del 1997 diretta da Georg Solti. Per me, qui Renée Fleming (Donna Anna) e Bryn Terfel (Don Giovanni) sono veramente al top!
36) Romanzo?
“The Keeper of the Bees” di Gene Strapper-Porter. È un romanzo  della mia adolescenza ma che ho voluto ancora rileggere; è una storia semplice che forse nessuno conosce, ma per me è stata un’ottima lettura!
37) Pittore?
Gustav Klimt.
38) Canzone o aria?
La prima cosa che mi viene in mente è una canzone…”Moon River” da  un grande classico (che amo!) come “Colazione da Tiffany”.
39) Profumo?
Vanitas di Versace. Non è più in produzione purtroppo, ma fortunatamente ne ho ancora… lo adoro!
40) Gadget elettronico?
iPad, sono un’appassionata di Apple!

English Version
Let’s start! What’s your favorite…

1) Social media?
Facebook.  I never took time to learn all the ins and outs of Instagram, so I feel most comfortable with Facebook!
2) Dish?
Taco salad.  It was my favorite dish as a kid, and my mom always made it for my birthday.  It’s made with Doritos and ground beef with taco spices, and then the normal taco sides….tomatoes, onions, lettuce, cheese and then served with a dressing that we have in America–Catalina dressing.  It’s like a French dressing that has a bit of a tang to it.  I haven’t had it for years, but I still love it!!!
3) Composer?
Richard Strauss.  For me, his music just lifts my soul!!
4) Type of holiday?
Absolutely Christmas!  It’s the best time of year, especially when all the family is together with wonderful food and LOTS of time to slowly open presents!! Watching the faces of my family when they open gifts is just priceless!
5) Pizza?
I like a good crusted pizza with all the vegetables that you can put on it.  The more veggies on the pizza, the better for me!!!
6) Ice cream?
Mint chocolate chip.  Or peanut butter cup??  Oh, I cant decide!  Maybe both together?
7) Operatic character?
Papageno from “The Magic Flute”.  He is just so so funny.  I love all of his interactions with the three ladies, and then his humor with Tamino later in the 2nd act.  Pure comic relief!
8) Breakfast?
An omelette with lots of vegetables, and endless cups of coffee!
9) Fashion designer?
Coco Chanel.  I’m not big into fashion, but she is for me, the best!
10) Theater?
La Scala.  It is just so perfect.  The city, the feeling in the theater, the history of who sang on the stage, and of course, the beauty of the theater too!!
11) Means of transport?
My car! I’m a true American who loves her independence with a car! Plus, it allows me to take more of home with me on the road.  Small details can make a big difference when you are away from home for a long period!
12) TV show?
Big Bang Theory.  It’s witty, short, and just funny!
13) Passion?
I absolutely love sitting on the beach, in the sun, looking at the sea.  That is pure peace!
14) Animal?
Cats! Dogs are fun, but cats are the best!
15) Colour?
Sage Green.  I used to like Hunter Green, which is much darker, but it has lightened to sage green over the years.  Green means serenity, I think, and that is how I feel when I see it!
16) Superhero?
Wonder Woman.  She is just amazing!
17) Fairy tale?
Cinderella.  I grew up on Disney’s “Cinderella” and it is still my favorite.  It’s the ideal story for a girl, and I still love it!
18) Attraction in a theme park?
Fast roller coasters.  I love the thrill and having the wind knocked out of you with the speed!
19) Actress or actor?
Katharine Hepburn.  Just a star in every way!  And she is so natural when she is on camera.  A true Hollywood superstar.
20) Role you’ve sung so far?
Salome or Arabella.  I have always said “Arabella”, but “Salome” has become a close second.  Very different stories, but……STRAUSS!!!!! His music is just rapturous!
21) Type of bed?
A comfortable one! I still haven’t found my ideal bed.  But definitely one that is comfortable!
22) Movie?
You’ve got Mail (with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan).  It is just a straight forward RomCom, but I have always loved it, and if I have a doubt on what to watch, I will turn it on.  It’s a feel-good movie with beautiful chemistry between Meg and Tom!  I love it.
23) Car?
A comfortable SUV.  I’m tall, so I need space.  And, I travel a lot and love to load my car with lots of “extra” things!
24) European city?
Lucerne, Switzerland.  It is a dream city, and also is where my husband asked me to marry me.  It’s a magical place!
25) Toy as a child?
Board games.  Any board game.  I just loved them.
26) School subject?
Math.  I couldn’t do super super complicated math, but the subject was always the one that I enjoyed doing.
27) Accessory?
Earrings.  Again, I’m not a big fashion person (I wish that I was!) but I always have earrings with me.  Pearl or diamonds are my go-to.
28) Restaurant?
Chi-Chi’s (Mexican restaurant).  In Michigan they are closed now.  But it was my favorite place to go because their chips and salsa was always good, and their fajitas were amazing.  I miss them!
29) Clothing item?
Jeans.  Simple and always in style.
30) Singer?
Margaret Price.  A beautiful singer that I admire very much!
31) Jam flavor?
Apricot.
32) Comics or cartoon character?
Spongebob Squarepants.  Ok, it’s not so grown-up, but I watched it with my younger sister as she grew up (she is 12 years younger than I am).  It is quite a funny cartoon, and always positive!
33) Catchphrase?

34) Snack?
Cashews.  Always satisfying!
35) CD?
Don Giovanni with Renee Fleming and Bryn Terfel (1997) It is one of the best recordings of this opera, and Renee and Bryn are at their very very bests!
36) Novel?
“The Keeper of the Bees” by Gene Strapper-Porter.  It is a book that I read when I was 15, and always love to go back to it.  It’s a simple story that is probably unknown, but a great read!
37) Painter?
Gustav Klimt.
38) Song or aria?
Moon River (from “Breakfast at Tiffany’s). I love the classic movies!  And this song always makes me happy.
39) Perfume?
Vanitas, by Versace.  They discontinued it, but I love it!
40) Electronic device?
IPad.  I am an apple user!!
